John Randell Cook, 62, of Hakalau died May 3 at Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Ada, Okla., he attended the University of Oklahoma and became a registered nurse and formerly worked for Queen’s Medical Center and University of California San Francisco Medical Center and was retired and enjoying life in Hawaii with his husband, Paul. Nancy Rosalia Martire Colella, 74, of South Kohala and also of Los Altos, Calif., died April 10 at her Big Island home. Born in Pittsburgh, she was a homemaker, an active community volunteer with numerous charitable organizations including Peninsula Volunteers of Menlo Park and the Jimmy V Foundation for Cancer Research, traveled extensively, was a competitive, high-level bridge player, a tennis player and golfer who donated a “Hole in One” tournament winnings of a car to the American Cancer Society, a Kappa Alpha Theta member in college and founder of “The Katpak” and was honored with the position of “Katpak 1.” A private service was hosted in California. Survived by husband, Samuel Colella of South Kohala and Los Altos, Calif.; son, Mark (Breanne) Colella of Los Altos, Calif.; daughters, Julia (David Carver) Colella Carver of Woodside, Calif., Dana (Daniel Clevenger) Colella Clevenger of Los Altos, Calif., Michele (Tyler Sloat) Colella Sloat of San Mateo, Calif.; sisters, Jeanette Sahi of San Francisco, Louise Martire of Bend, Ore.; brother Louis Martire of St. Louis; 10 grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
